Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families – Crisis Fund

The Cause

Imagine a moment when a family can focus on the health of their child and not the financial cost associated with a medical disability. Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families provide a collection of resources to help families raising a child with cerebral palsy or similar neuromotor disabilities. Our Crisis Fund provides financial resources to families. Raising a child with a permanent disability means families must pay for treatments, therapies, adaptive equipment and more. Each of the families we support have a unique need for assistance and services. Our Crisis Fund provides winter jackets to modified car seats and rental fees for life-assisting devices such as Cough Machine We want to ensure families live an inclusive, abundant, happy life. Our organization helps families facing these numerous financial obstacles by providing support to alleviate unique crisis expenses.

Who Will it Benefit?

This program benefits not only individuals from birth to 18 years of age living with cerebral palsy and similar neuromotor disabilities that are in crisis, and their families. Our Crisis fund assists low-income families and families new to Canada. Additionally, with the economic downturn in Calgary and recent lay-offs, we have been able to provide assistance so a child does not have to go without specialized equipment, medication or lifesaving treatments. Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families, throughout the year, also assists families with the fees associated with memberships, adaptive bikes, summer camps, funeral costs and Christmas hampers. With past supports within our Crisis Fund we have seen an increase in referrals to our agency.
