JoyFull Movement for Children

The Cause

All children need to experience movement for the joy of it. Our idea is to launch a 10 week, Saturday morning program that incorporates movement and story imagination, targeted at helping children with special needs to experience the simple joy of movement. The session basics will be broad with some focus on posture and gymnastics, and will target all aspects of learning - intellectual, social, and physical literacy. Children in the program will develop skills that reflect age appropriate spatial aspects of development that facilitate balance and coordination, uprightness in posture, and the ability of the children to direct the attention appropriately in group settings. Each of these skills will set up children for success in the pursuit of lifelong learning.

Who Will it Benefit?

The JoyFull Movement for Children program will benefit children with special needs in the areas of motor deficiency, academic dysfunction, and those with social or emotional difficulties who are unable to explore the joy of movement in a regular class setting. The program will benefit both boys and girls who are between the ages of 4 and 8.
