Samaritan Bundle Bee Program for New Borns

The Cause

We are seeking funds through Field Law to assist us in supporting the increasing number of needy Calgarian mothers that come to us as a last resort through a social worker or health care professional.

The funds are for our Bundle Bee program that supports Mothers with newborn children in desperate need of the basic baby essentials after giving birth. With the rising costs of diapers and baby items we struggle to meet all our requests. We provide each mother with a hand wrapped Layette bundle of items that include sleepers, onesies, diapers, receiving blankets, crib blanket, bath towels, hat.
For more than a 100 years the Samaritan Club of Calgary has been helping Calgarians in need. The Samaritan Club is a registered charitable organization and is self funded by a membership of approximately 176 volunteers with all administrative costs covered by membership fees. All monies raised are returned to the community through programs and services for needy families and individuals.

We are dedicated to providing a leg up to those in crisis or needing immediate support. This can mean groceries when the cupboard is bare, costly medications, aids to daily living, medical and dental procedures, education, scholarships, camperships and Layettes for newborns. Larger projects are also undertaken such as the Kerby Center shelter " Move out Project: which assist residents experiencing abuse, homelessness, or are at risk of being homeless. In the fall of 2016 we became a supporter of education division of the Boys and Girls club of Calgary's "Infinity Project" which assists with continued education for homeless youth.

Who Will it Benefit?

Mothers with new born children that are in despairing socially economically and physiologically situations. The funds will provide mothers in need the basic essentials for their newborn after giving birth. Our dedicated volunteers bundle over a 100 layettes in an evening.
