Community BBQ
The Cause
The Salvation Army has worked in the community of Yellowknife since the early 1980s. We offer a variety of programs and services to help our community. In recent days, our leadership team has spoken of a desire to offer opportunities for communities to get together to develop friendships, partnerships, and overall community bonding. We live in a diverse community and a great way to learn about culture and traditions, is to gather for meals together. We also have a strong connection to the underhoused population. To foster this, we propose the purchase of a commercial propane powered BBQ (see photo attached) to allow us greater opportunities to bring the community together. The activities will not be for profit. The main purpose is to provide free meals in a community setting.
Who Will it Benefit?
Our goal is to utilize this equipment to offer community BBQ's in the neighbourhoods of Yellowknife, public spaces i.e., public parks, and community events (i.e., festivals, etc.), housing co-ops etc. . Our goal is to reach out to the community showing that we are here, we care about the people of Yellowknife, and all who choose to attend will benefit.
