Beds for Kids

The Cause

Beds for Kids - is a new effort to meet the growing need of our new Ukrainian families coming to Edmonton area. It is a project where we will partner with Edmonton area high schools to build beds for kids. We have successfully piloted this project at Bev Facey Highschool. SHP is a registered Canadian charity Reg # 784917874 RR0001 that started in Sherwood Park in July 2019. With strong community support, we have grown with help from Sherwood Park Rotary and many other individuals, organizations and groups. We deliver beds to kids sleeping on the floor in Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan and the greater Edmonton area. We are a volunteer run agency who live our Mission: NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN.
Due to the Ukrainian war, hundreds of new families have moved and continue to move to the Edmonton region. Often carrying only suitcases many of family’s children will sleep on the floor without your help. With already high local demand for beds, we need partners to allow us to meet this rapidly increasing need. Please help us help others

Who Will it Benefit?

Children ages 3 to 17 living in poverty in the greater Edmonton area. Beds provide more than a good night's sleep. Our beds include new mattresses and bedding which gives dignity and respect the children and youth. The rapid influx of Ukrainian families, mostly single moms and kids is unprecedented. We need to find more partnerships. High School shop classes make high quality beds. By partnering with other groups such as Ukrainian Canadian Social Services we can rapidly get beds to the kids. The need is great, and the rewards are smiling kids sleeping on safe, warm beds.
This charity is fully volunteer run. We rely on donations and gifts to provide beds to kids without beds. No other charity makes and provides new beds to children. Each bed, mattress and bedding costs $500. This donation will result in nearly 50 children receiving new beds!
