Musango Voice choir program

The Cause

The idea is to create opportunities for people from African descent, especially those comprised from students, newcomers, women and elders to engage with local communities, share and preserve their rich musical heritage, cultivate cultural exchange. This project is using the power of choir music to promote inclusivity, cultural pride and offer educational experiences for both the choir members and the community. Launched in 2022 under the artistic direction of Olivia Elel Enanga, the vocal ensemble Musango Voice (translate Voice of Peace) aims to be a place where musical culture from Cameroon, Africa and beyond can be recharged, enhanced and shared! The choir is non-auditioned and welcomes all music enthusiasts who are concerned about their restrictive schedules, thanks to adapted rehearsal times, a lighter program and a space for the whole family! Musango Voice appropriates traditional and contemporary music repertoires to reach out to others and tell stories, thanks to original arrangements and an interpretation full of musicality, rhythm and sunshine! A vocal perfection and music theory education program is also offered throughout the season. In Musango Voice, we believe that choral singing fosters intercultural dialogue while instilling a sense of belonging and pride. We believe that committed and passionate parents are an inspiration to their children. We believe that music opens doors and that everyone should have the opportunity to make music.
