100 Houses of Hope
The Cause
Zoe's Animal Rescue Society is a registered Canadian charity and a 100 percent volunteer-run organization. Zoe's is a network of dedicated volunteers that are committed to the welfare, rehabilitation, rehoming and veterinary care of animals, specifically dogs and cats in and around the Edmonton area. We rely entirely on donations, grant funding, and fundraising to support our cause.
For this project, Zoe's Animal Rescue Society, seeks 25000.00 to put toward building and delivering 100 winter-ready dog houses to our First Nation partners in Northern Alberta. You may think that building dog houses is just about providing much needed shelter from our harsh winters; but, it is so much more. The impact of this program is far reaching in that it seeks to cultivate a positive relationship with our First Nation partners that is based on common values of respect and reverence for all living beings. Investing in the welfare of our animals is paramount to creating healthy communities. This program aims to keep dogs with their owners while providing the tools to keep both dogs and humans safe. Finally, a program of this nature serves not only provides dog owners with the tools they need; but, it also helps to establish trust and cooperation between First Nation communities and the rescue society.
Who Will it Benefit?
Zoe's winter-ready dog houses will be built for our First Nation partners in Northern Alberta. The houses will be built and delivered to dogs that normally stay outside. In addition to the dog houses, Zoe's also provides access to vet care, microchipping and spay and neutering where needed. This program will have an enduring positive effect on the overall community: when our animals are healthy, it is reflected back on us morally, socially and emotionally. Some of the communities Zoe's works with are listed below: Frog Lake First Nation, Enoch Cree Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Alexander First Nation, Witchenkan Lake First Nation, Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Saddle Lake Cree Nation, Paul First Nation, Onion Lake First Nation.
