2022 Dream Maker Program

The Cause

Our Mission:
Giving the gift of hope by granting wishes for children in Alberta diagnosed with a severe chronic or life-threatening medical illness.
We define chronic to mean a medical condition that severely impacts and restricts the child’s activities of daily living. The impact and restrictions may result from a variety of factors including, but not limited to, recurrent hospital stays, use of oxygen and/or ventilator machines, the need to use a wheelchair for mobility, high doses of medication, or a considerable degree of medical intervention. This definition covers multiple conditions that will affect the child for life but are not necessarily life-threatening.
Our Vision:
When a child is sick, everyone hurts. A chronic or life-threatening illness robs children of their childhood.
Having a wish granted can bring a welcome respite from the grind of hospital stays, doctor’s visits, medicines, tests, treatments, worries, and fears. The wish is not a cure, and it is not a reward for being sick. It's a break from the daily challenge of being ill - a break for the entire family. A wish is something the whole family can look forward to.

Who Will it Benefit?

Since 1986 we have granted wishes to children from 170 Alberta cities, towns, and communities.
