AirBand Together For A Wish – Edmonton

The Cause

Have you ever heard of Children’s Wish? How about an AirBand competition? Air guitars and Lip synching to your favourite songs and getting to be a Rock star on a real stage!
As an entertainment company, we come up with new and exciting ideas for our clients. We developed an AirBand competition for companies as team building events, and last year we decided that we could use the concept for fundraising and we chose Children’s Wish as our charity of choice.
The idea is that we make the Children’s Wish Kids a Rockstar for the day! We pick them up (with their family and friends) in a limo, they arrive on a red carpet with paparazzi flashes and sit in the VIP area by the stage. Then, the “concert” starts! It is an all-ages, family friendly event which is made up of corporate companies who have registered as a “Band” and are responsible for raising funds (kind of like a Bike /Race) for Children’s Wish. They dress up, they act crazy and we have games, raffles and all sorts of fun things at the event. The winner of the AirBand performances will then get to perform with the Wish Kids!

We had our first event on October 28, 2018 and it was a huge hit. Now we have decided to take the event across Canada and hit every city that has a Children’s Wish chapter. This year we will be in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Calgary. We have been sponsored by ArrKann RV to provide us with a trailer to take us from one city to the next on our tour.

Who Will it Benefit?

Children’s Wish provides wishes for children who are terminally ill, have had a life-threatening illness or a serious neurological or genetic condition.

Each wish costs approximately $10,000 and across Canada Children’s Wish grants an average of three wishes per day. Each chapter has the responsibility to fundraise for their region, so all the monies collected will be focused in the area that that chapter. For the Calgary chapter that covers, Alberta and Northwest Territories.

Children’s Wish has a “no waiting list” policy and they make any wish the child wants to come true.
