Alberta Dreams Foundation’s Summer of Dreams 2024
The Cause
We have launched the 2024 Summer of Dreams initiative which will allow us to fulfill an additional twelve dreams in 2024, for a total of thirty-six, with a renewed focus on expanding our impact across the province. Having a dream fulfilled can bring a welcome respite from the endless grind of hospital stays, doctor’s visits, medicines, tests, treatments, worries, and fears. It’s a break from the daily hardship of being ill – a break for the entire family. For a child who is sick, having a dream come true can be the catalyst to help them feel better emotionally and physically, giving them increased strength and courage to battle their illness and the daily challenges it brings. The positive impact of a fulfilled dream is felt not just by the child and their family, but by their entire communities. Supporting and caring for a sick child truly ‘takes a village’ and the impact of a dream coming true can be truly transformative for the child, their family, and their community.
Who Will it Benefit?
Alberta Dreams is the only wish-granting organization dedicated solely to Alberta children with a severe chronic or life-threatening medical illness. The inclusion of chronic illness in our mandate sets us apart from similar organizations in Canada, making Alberta Dreams an essential resource for chronically ill children who do not qualify for a wish under other programs. We have seen the need for our services increase exponentially as Alberta grows in population and life becomes more expensive for families with sick children. In order to satisfy this increased demand, we have re-branded from the Rainbow Society of Alberta to the Alberta Dreams Foundation to better reflect our crucial mission of making dreams come true for sick kids and their families and have entered a period of dynamic and aggressive growth to make up for lost time and to satisfy increasing demand. To make this happen we need like-minded partners to help us achieve these ambitious goals and are seeking grants and partnerships to support our ‘2024 Summer of Dreams’. This important initiative will make dreams come true for at least a dozen more sick Alberta kids and their families while growing awareness and media coverage of the Alberta Dreams Foundation and our new name. This will allow us to increase our presence in communities across the province and the number of dreams we can fulfill moving forward.
