Books for children from birth to age 5

The Cause

We would like to provide an additional 108 children with a subscription to a free monthly book mailing for one year. Our organization is Dolly Parton's Imagination Library of Chestermere, we are an affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Canada (DPIL).

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five through funding shared by Dolly Parton and Local Community Partners. DPIL of Chestermere funds and serves families who reside within Chestermere boundaries.

Registered children receive one free book every month in the mail addressed to the child. Once the child reaches the age 5 they enter into Kindergarten and will no longer receive books by mail. This program helps foster a love of reading, early literacy development and increase school readiness as the child enters into school.

We currently have 275 registered children receiving monthly books by mail addressed to the child. We are requesting $5,000.00 to provide books to 108 children for one year.

Support from Field law will help place books in the hands of more Chestermere children and help prepare them for school.

Who Will it Benefit?

All registered children from birth to age five whom are residents of Chestermere benefit from DPIL book giving program. We are a non discriminatory operation so all children, regardless of race or economic status, can access our program providing they are within the age bracket and live within City of Chestermere boundaries.
