Calgary Youth Curling Association Sunday League
The Cause
The weekly Calgary Youth Curling Association league has typically been rotated around 3-4 clubs. There are additional opportunities for neighboring clubs to invite the league for a once or twice a season showcase. This league is where curling program youth begin their curling careers playing real games. They start here as young as 9 or 10 with the average age between 11-16 years. Upper age is under 20.
This league is a place to get started on a team and learn what it takes to get to the next level in competitive curling. As the older and more competitive teams grow they tend to advance to the Alberta Junior Bonspiel Tour and also transition into adult leagues. This league is the starting point for young people to learn and develop in full games and become real curlers! The CYCA weekly league feeds into adult curling opportunities city and province wide.
Who Will it Benefit?
The Calgary Youth Curling Association is a volunteer non-profit society created to provide the infrastructure and means whereby Calgary and area youth are given the chance to learn and participate in the sport of curling. They start here as young as 9 or 10 with the average age between 11-16 years. Upper age is under 20.
The association is completely dedicated to youth curling. Besides attracting youth to the sport, the CYCA develops, organizes and implements youth curling activities and programs in the Calgary area.
