Community Mental Health Portal
The Cause
The demand for mental health in our community is at an all-time high. 1 in 5 people suffer from mental health issues, and for a 30,000-person community of our size that means 6,000 citizens are suffering. To help these people get the help they need, we want to create an online hub for all mental health things happening in our community. This hub would be simple-looking, mobile-friendly, and easy to use. We would be updated regularly with fresh content spotlighting services already offered, as well as new proactive coping mechanisms. The site would also be supported with social media activity both from specific accounts, and supporting partner accounts across the region.
There are numerous services already being offered in the community in support of mental health for various segments of the population. We want to ensure the general public has as much knowledge as possible about who can help them.
Essentially, this hub will ensure that when someone in our community needs mental health support, they find the help they need.
Who Will it Benefit?
The roughly 6,000 individuals in our community suffering from mental health illness, as well as their supporting family and friends. This project will specifically support families and adults, but will also serve youth and seniors.
