Food Security for Northern Families

The Cause

Covid-19 caused a crisis of food insecurity in our community and a tremendous increased demand. Where we only had up to 30 families coming to us for food support on a monthly basis, we now serve up to 250 families who come to us for food support on a monthly basis. Many families are forced to choose between paying bills and rent or feeding their children. This is an unprecedented demand and we aim to supplement family groceries with fresh meat and groceries that they can't otherwise get through other sources. We also want to bring people together through community cooking classes so they can learn new and affordable ways of cooking to feed their families on limited budgets.

Who Will it Benefit?

Families living in the Northwest Territories on fixed or low incomes who are experiencing housing and/or food insecurity.
