Out Of Africa Animal Sanctuary Sponsorship

The Cause

Background:
Out of Africa Animal Sanctuary, situated in rural Alberta, just 20 minutes from Edmonton, is a volunteer-run charitable organization founded in 2002. They care for nearly 100 animals, including horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, and even a duck. The sanctuary offers refuge to neglected, slaughter-bound, and abandoned animals, aiming to provide them a lifelong safe haven. Beyond animal care, their mission involves educating and supporting the youth and community. They facilitate learning opportunities regardless of age or background, fostering compassion for all living creatures. This registered charity operates with 100% dedicated volunteers and has run into financial challenges since COVID.

Idea:
To improve upon the continued great work in providing a haven for rescued animals and valuable community engagement at the Out of Africa Animal Sanctuary

Our Request:
We are seeking grant funding to assist in improving and continuing to operate our animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong care for a diverse range of animals in need. Our sanctuary serves as a safe haven for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals, allowing them to thrive in a loving and safe environment while promoting animal welfare, community service and education.

Goals:
1. Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation: To continue to be able to rescue and rehabilitate animals, including farm animals, wildlife, and exotic species, ensuring they receive proper medical care, behavioural rehabilitation, and a nurturing environment.

2. Community Engagement: To engage the local community through educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and outreach efforts that promote therapy and healing through animal interactions, responsible pet ownership, environmental conservation, and compassion towards animals.

3. Facility Maintenance/Improvement: To continually improve and expand our sanctuary facilities, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance for our animals.

Who Will it Benefit?

Funding provided to Out of Africa Animal Sanctuary will have a profound and far-reaching impact, not only on the lives of the animals in our care but also on the individuals and communities we serve. Here's how your support will make a significant difference:

1. A Lifeline for Vulnerable Animals:
Funding will ensure that our sanctuary continues to be a beacon of hope and safe haven for close to 100 animals, ranging from tiny chicks and ducklings to majestic horses. Each animal that finds refuge here experiences a profound transformation. For many, our sanctuary is their lifeline, providing nourishment that saves them from starvation, patient love and trust after suffering terrible abuse by humans, rescue from auctions where they faced the grim fate of slaughter, or simply a new home when their owners can no longer provide the care they need. Your support will directly contribute to the well-being and longevity of these animals, offering them a life filled with safety, love, and dignity.

2. Therapy and Healing Through Animal Interaction:
Out of Africa Animal Sanctuary is more than just a place of refuge; it's a sanctuary of healing. We've collaborated with various organization to offer therapeutic experiences to individuals facing trauma and emotional challenges. With your funding, we can expand and enhance these programs. From military members dealing with PTSD to school-aged children coping with trauma, and youth from difficult circumstances, our sanctuary provides them with a unique opportunity to bond with our animals. The unconditional love and trust they receive from our animals become instrumental in their healing journeys. Your support will enable us to reach even more individuals in need, offering them solace, understanding, and a path towards healing and recovery.

3. Fostering Lifelong Connections:
The impact of our sanctuary extends far beyond the initial interactions. Many of those who have sought solace and therapy at our sanctuary continue to frequent our organisation in adulthood. The bonds formed between our animals and these individuals are heartwarming and enduring. Your funding will help us strengthen these connections, creating a community of individuals who find comfort, purpose, and heart-felt love in the presence of our animals.
