Parkview Community League Outdoor Revitalization

The Cause

Our idea is to REVITALIZE the outdoor recreation space around our Community Hall.
With the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in more people spending more time at home and in their community AND the demand for large outdoor spaces to recreate in, we feel the timing is perfect to make all of this a reality.
We will do this by replacing a 40+ year old, beyond life, outdoor ice rink with a NEW outdoor facility which will enable our community to gather & socialize year round, as well as skate, play ice hockey & ringette in the winter and beach volleyball in the non-winter months. This project will result in a facility that will be used virtually year round instead of just the winter months.

Who Will it Benefit?

Our community is 3,373 people strong. Each and everyone of those individuals who enjoy socializing, ice skating, ice hockey, ringette and beach volleyball will benefit from our idea. Individuals with mobility challenges will benefit as well since there will be NO more fencing around the new facility AND proper access points for wheelchairs, for example, will be in place which do not exist right now.
We estimate that 70% + of Parkview Community's population could benefit, which is approx. 2,800 people, ages 5-80.
The surrounding Communities around Parkview stand to benefit as well since our idea compliments the kinds of amenities that those Communities currently offer.
