Pelvic Floor-It Walk/Run (Women’s Health Ambulatory Care, Foothills Medical Centre)

The Cause

On behalf of the Pelvic Floor Clinic (PFC), Women’s Health Ambulatory Care at the Foothills Medical Centre, we are writing to make you aware of the inaugural Pelvic Floor-It Run/Walk (1km, 5km, 10km) being hosted on September 8, 2019 at Edworthy Park in Calgary, Alberta. As you may be aware, the PFC offers an interdisciplinary approach to providing services and various options for women experiencing pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, bladder dysfunction and bowel evacuation disorders.
We would like to personally extend an opportunity for Field Law to be a sponsor and support this exciting initiative. The goal of this event is to raise funds for the PFC to enhance ongoing educational material for patients, provide education opportunities, as well as, support international ventures that support pelvic floor health to underdeveloped communities.

Who Will it Benefit?

The Pelvic Floor Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic with dedicated physicians, nurses and pelvic floor physiotherapists who educate and treat patients with urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse and associated symptoms. Pelvic organ prolapse is a common condition affecting half of all women at some point in their lives. Additionally, about a third of these women will have some sort of urinary incontinence symptoms. Pelvic organ prolapse can be caused through a variety of associated factors like aging, lifestyle habits, child bearing and genetic factors. It is the role of the clinic to both educate and treat women to improve their quality of life, self-esteem and intimacy.
