The Cause

Rocky Mountain Volleyball Club Athlete Scholarship Initiative

The Rocky Mountain Volleyball Club (RMVC) is a small but competitive volleyball club located in Southern Alberta. Our club prides itself on providing high-level training and a supportive community for athletes who aspire to excel in the sport. Competing against larger clubs, RMVC strives to maintain affordable fees, but we recognize that financial barriers can still limit some talented athletes from joining our teams.

Though our fees are kept significantly lower than those of larger city clubs, the costs associated with travel, coaching, gym facilities, and uniforms are unavoidable, and our annual fundraising efforts cover only the essentials. We believe that no dedicated athlete should miss the opportunity to develop their potential simply because of financial limitations.

To address this, we would love to support an RMVC Athlete Scholarship, aimed at supporting athletes who have shown their talent and commitment during tryouts but are unable to afford the club fees. By establishing this scholarship, we hope to make our club accessible to all passionate players, ensuring that financial limitations do not prevent any athlete from pursuing their volleyball dreams.

Who Will it Benefit?

The RMVC scholarship program is designed to support a diverse range of athletes, with a direct and indirect impact on 70-85 players across our club. The $10,000 scholarship fund will directly benefit 5 to 10 athletes who face significant financial barriers. These athletes will receive direct financial assistance to cover costs such as club fees, travel expenses, and essential equipment, allowing them to participate fully in all aspects of RMVC without the burden of financial stress.

The benefits of this scholarship program, however, extend well beyond the directly supported athletes. The remaining 60-75 athletes within our club will benefit tangentially through the enhanced inclusivity and sense of community fostered by the program. By supporting financially disadvantaged athletes, we strengthen our teams as a whole, ensuring we have the best talent available, regardless of financial background. This not only raises the level of competition but also creates a more diverse and supportive environment for all players.

The scholarship recipients will also be encouraged to give back by mentoring younger athletes and volunteering within the club, creating a positive culture of support and role modeling. This ripple effect will inspire their teammates, foster team spirit, and promote a strong sense of belonging among all members of the RMVC. By lifting up those in need, the entire club is elevated, ultimately creating opportunities and strengthening the bonds within our volleyball community for both male and female athletes alike.
