Volunteer Youth Corps of Airdrie

The Cause

Volunteer Airdrie has been approved to open and operate a Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) franchise in Airdrie, Alberta for youth ages 11-18. YVC is a program with a 32 year old track record of making an impact on youth development in the U.S. and Canada through a proven formula of community service projects. Airdrie would be only the third franchise in Canada, after Youth Central in Calgary and the YVC in Terrace, B.C.

Volunteer Airdrie is opening a YVC facility in May, 2019 with support from the City of Airdrie and Government of Alberta under the FCSS program. Our facility will provide a place for up to 50 local youth to meet and plan community service projects in Airdrie with the support and guidance of our part-time Program Director and Youth Team Leaders. Membership in the YVC will provide youth to develop their leadership and teamwork skills to become more empathetic, resilient and connected individuals.

Who Will it Benefit?

In 2019, Volunteer Airdrie is planning to have up to 50 youth from the Airdrie and area community, ages 11-18 as members of our YVC.
