Young People Can Soar

The Cause

The Air Cadets of the 504 Squadron in Edmonton fundraise to enhance the program provided by the Department of Defence. This fundraising is done for all the Cadets, who have a wide variety of backgrounds from those that live in group homes to immigrant children to middle class kids from ordinary homes and military homes. One of the highlights of the Cadet funded programs is to reward their hard work every week by providing a citizenship trip away from Edmonton during Easter Break. Unfortunately, not every Cadet can afford to go, even when subsidized by the fundraising. I would like to see every Cadet be able to participate in the trip planned for Easter 2016.

Who Will it Benefit?

The 76 Cadets registered with 504 Squadron based at Blatchford Field. This trip is for them--not the parents, not the Officers, but the teens who diligently show up every week for parade, strive to achieve the next level of promotion and award and show up on weekends for extra training in everything from ground school, biathlon, drill, gliding, effective speaking and much more. This trip is a reward for their hard work while also giving them the chance to explore their world, appreciate their citizenship, build their team spirit and take advantage of opportunities few teens have.
