Pet Assist: Helping Pets + Their Seniors Stay Together

From our staff, our volunteers, our seniors… and all their furry little friends – THANK YOU! Funding from the Field Law Community Fund Program for our Pet Assist program enabled Calgary Seniors to provide volunteers to help 76 low-income, isolated seniors properly care for their pets in 2018. Without this program and your support, 76 seniors might have had to surrender their pet, or worse, watch their pet suffer. Thank you again!

“Thank you for finding Karen for me, she’s been a god send for little Rocco and me. We look forward to her visits and Rocco loves going for his long walks with her. She’s an angel.” – Fran

“Greg is a very compassionate person. He’s patient with Sara, my dog, as she is very timid with new people. Now they are best friends and he’s completely won her over.” – Rick

“Having the two volunteers come to help me with my cats during the three weeks following my eye surgery was a life saver. Not being able to bend to clean their litter or feed them during that time… I don’t know how I would have managed without their help. Thank you, thank you, thank you times a thousand. My kitties are everything to me.” –Marie

“Being able to access food for Blackie when I am having a bad month meant a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders. It’s a safety net that gives me peace of mind and food security for my kitty.” – Sharon

“ I don’t know what I would have done if Calgary Seniors hadn’t stepped in to help with my vet care for Frankie. She was suffering and I couldn’t stand it. I would have had to go into debt that I would be carrying for the rest of my life.” – Patricia
