Rooftop Community Garden

Thanks to the support of the Field Law Community Fund Program, Made by Momma’s Rooftop Community Garden flourished, providing not only fresh, nourishing produce to help prepare meals for vulnerable families but also hope, connection, and resilience in the face of crisis.

In a city where nearly 1 in 3 children face food insecurity, the garden helped address a growing need by increasing access to healthy food in a tangible and sustainable way. With the addition of fresh herbs, vegetables, and honey from the garden, our volunteers prepared and delivered over 180,000 servings of meals and baked goods last year to families facing adversity or crisis, including those navigating critical illness, escaping violence, or the many refugee families transitioning to Calgary.

The impact of this project extended far beyond the harvest. It brought volunteers together, provided many team-building opportunities, and contributed to a more resilient local food system. The ripple effect of your support has been deeply felt, not just in the meals delivered but in the dignity restored and lives uplifted.

Field Law’s generous donation helped turn a rooftop at Southcentre Mall into a source of nourishment and a leading example of urban farming. Through this project, hundreds of families experienced the power of community, and volunteers found meaningful ways to give back.

Together, we’ve grown more than food ~ we’ve grown hope.
